Honomu · Hāmākua Coast · Hawai'i Island
A four-bedroom house on five acres of fruit trees above Honomu, with ocean views from the lanai and thirteen beds spread across enough rooms that nobody has to share who does not want to.
The land is a working fruit farm. Citrus, banana, avocado, and whatever else is ripe when you arrive, which guests are welcome to pick. Five acres means the nearest house is not close enough to see, and the lanai looks past the trees to open water.
Thirteen guests fit without anyone sleeping badly. A king in the master, a second king in the grand room, two queens, four twins, and a daybed. Two full bathrooms, a real kitchen, and separate indoor and outdoor places to eat so a group of that size is not stacked on top of itself.
This is the one house on the list that takes dogs. Hilo is twenty minutes for the farmers market and the airport, Akaka Falls is five, and Kolekole Beach Park is close enough to go twice in a day.
